Changes on how players will build their first base are coming with the reset.

Today I come bearing good news regarding some tweaks for the upcoming reset!
First, the starter packages will receive a buff. Since the start of the game will be a bit tougher in general with the off-world CX stations post-reset, you’ll get more consumables and initial production materials to compensate.
Second, we’ve been following the Discord discussions about Local Markets. While we won’t hand-place any LMs in the new universe, we changed a couple of things (just in time for Esabab’s great summary forum post):

No need to abuse the COLIQ feature to build an LM from your Core Module materials. In fact, we’re getting rid of that trick completely. Your very first base will now require a “Core Module Kit”, which you will receive instead of the materials required to build a standard Core Module. All bases beyond your first one will still require the same materials as before. (Also, additional building costs for certain environmental conditions still apply, so no settling on a gas giant with your CM kit only!)

We’re getting rid of the LTA requirement to build a Local Market and are replacing it with LBH (to compensate for the lack of COLIQ abuse potential… just kidding, it just makes sense to change this). This should make LMs accessible quite a bit earlier in the game than they would have been with their previous building costs.

I’ll make it short this week, as most of the topics I worked on are covered by Fabian.
Besides that I worked on the integration of the new account back-end for the game, specifically on the question what happens if a player has had a PRO subscription and “falls back” to a TRIAL license. In that case the player will not receive a TRIAL licence but rather a BASIC license. There are not many differences between TRIAL and BASIC, but a few of them are noteworthy:
- BASIC users will be able to accept LM ads, but not post
- BASIC users will have a rating
- Once a user becomes a BASIC licensee, running recurring production orders will convert to non-recurring production orders

Last week was a short week for me since I took some time off for my birthday. I do have a few updates, however. The Early access trailer is finished! I’m really happy with how it turned out and the team liked it as well. Now my attention will be focused on the final new website touches as we approach the finish line. I will also be contacting influencers and the press to help bolster the effect of this big release, fingers crossed!
I have also been planning to remake/enhance some of the tutorial videos as I know some of them have become outdated with subsequent changes to the game. If you are a new player and/or have a good memory of the tutorials, you can help me out by completing this survey!
